The restaurants below are moderately priced. Unfortunately, Florence is a tourist destination, so prices tend to be a bit higher than in other parts of Italy. For opening and closing times contact the restaurant either via telephone or website.
La pentola dell’Oro Osteria, Via di Mezzo, angolo Via dei Pepi Tele: 055 241808. Somewhat off the beaten path, but worth it. Near the Piazza di Sant’Ambrogio. A rustic setting with simple yet delicious Tuscan dishes with impeccable service. The chef, Pietro Aretino came out personally to uncork the wine (a really good locale Chianti Classico). He was extremely proud of his restaurant. Given the excellent food and top notch service, I can understand why.
I’ Francescano, Largo Bargellini 16r Tele: 055 24 16 05. Right beside Santa Croce. A corky decor compliments the heavenly Tuscan dishes.
Santo Bevitore, Via di Santo Spirito 64/66r Tele: 055 211264. Located in Oltrarno(across the Arno), about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio. I liked the unique setting (it was formally a stable) with a casual laid back atmosphere. The food was Tuscan/Italian with an French twist. It’s hard to explain, but one thing I can tell you is the food was good and the staff attentive.
Ristorante Dino, Via Ghibellina 51r Tele: 055 241452. North of Piazza di Santa Croce, near the Theatro Verdi in a quiet neighborhood. Delicious Tuscan dishes served in a genteel setting.
Tre Merli, Via de’ Fossi Tele: 055 287062. Not far from our hotel. Tuscan cuisine served in a warm and cozy atmosphere.
